Indian Springfield
Indian Motorcycle’s continued new model
role-out continues with this new derivative of the Chieftain range called the
Indian Springfield.
The bike has been named after the
birthplace of the Indian Motorcycle company and is aimed at taking a slice of
the gigantic American bagger sector, featuring a removable windscreen and hard
saddlebags for a full-on touring specification. Both the screen and the bags
can be removed in just a few minutes without the need for any tools.
The bike is the latest addition to the
larger-capacity 1811 cc V-twin range that already includes the Chieftain, Chief
Classic, Chief Vintage, Chief Dark Horse and Roadmaster.
Work has been done to redesign the
luggage over existing models so the bike can carry a bigger load with comfort a
big part of the work to the bike with features such as the windscreen and
adjustable pillion footrests.
Standard equipment includes ABS, a tyre
pressure monitoring system, cruise control, twin front riding lights and engine
bars offering a bit of protection should the bike topple over.
It will cost £ 19,599 when it arrives in
Indian dealers at the end of April. MCN is currently in the US of A riding the
