Mercedes-Benz AMG 63S Coupe by G-Power
Whomever thought that G-Power is
synonymous only with high-end Bavarian tuning has another think coming.
Sure, when it comes to infusing power
under the hood, the German tuner has a soft spot for BMWs, but this particular
Mercedes AMG63 S Coupe is one of the few exceptions.
Not G-Power, obviously, which has a
clear fetish for obscene power figures, and this new addition to its curriculum
proves it. With output bumped to 705 PS and 1000 Nm of torque from the “measly” 585 PS and 900 Nm of torque stock power figure, the big grand tourer sprints in 3.8
seconds from 0 to 100 Km/h on its way to the 330 km/h top
speed – the 250 Km/h speed governor has been removed.
What makes the bump in power even more
impressive is that G-Power used its Bi-Tronik 5 v1 plug-in play performance
module, which means the car can return to its “normal” self after the gizmo is
removed. Moreover, the engine protection and diagnosis functions are retained,
and the power increase is activated only when the prescribed cooling water
temperature is achieved, and temporarily switched off when the maximum
permitted oil temperature is reached.
On the visual front, nothing except the
AMG goodies announces the beast under the hood, as the tuning company decided
to stay “incognito”, letting only the 9.0 x 21-inch Hurricane RR wheels do the
talking on its behalf. Weighing only 11.4 Kg (each) the rims are made from 6061
grade aluminum – a material favored by the aerospace industry for its unique
combination of low weight and high-strength – reducing unsprung mass and aiding
the vehicle’s performance.
