New Lotus Evora Sport 410
This is the new Evora Sport 410, the
most hardcore version of the range offering more power and less weight. Lotus
gurus were able to cut a substantial 70 kg off the regular Evora 400’s weight
figure while the supercharged V6 engine now makes 10 hp more for a total of
410 hp.
As a result, the Sport 410 can now
accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.1 sec when equipped with the
automatic transmission. Purists will probably prefer the manual choice, not
only for the added interaction but also for the smaller weight figure, as the
manual Evora Sport 410 tips the scales at 1,325 kg, compared to the 1,337 kg of
the automatic model.
The three-pedaled version is a bit
faster, with a top speed at 300 km/h compared to the 280 km/h the automatic can achieve. A low inertia flywheel along with a Torsen
limited-slip differential also sweetens the deal for the manual.
Lotus was able to shed some weight by
replacing many components with carbon-fibre ones, including the front splitter,
roof panel, tailgate, rear diffuser as well as race-derived sports seats and a
revised front access panel. The one-piece carbon tailgate replaces the old
component which was made out of five separate elements while new are also the
lightweight door trim panels.
The new bodywork also means an increase
of downforce by 15 percent with no increase in drag. The new Lotus is now 3
seconds faster from the regular Evora 400 around the Hethel test track,
clocking a 1 min 28 sec lap time.
The company’s engineers have also
recalibrated the suspension setup, improving the geometry and completely
revising the damping. The ride height is now 5mm lower than the Evora 400 while
the standard set of ultra-light 10-spoke forged aluminum wheels can be shod
with optional Michelin Cup 2 tires.
The cabin now hosts a set of
carbon-fiber seats trimmed with Alcantara which also decorates the steering
wheel and the centre console. The one-piece door trim panels finished in
Alcantara have their arm rests and stowage pockets deleted.
A limited production run of 150 cars per
year ensures exclusivity, with the company to offer a specific North American
version as well.
