2016 Hyundai Elantra Sport
The Hyundai Avante Sport (2016 Hyundai
Elantra Sport) has been revealed in South Korea as the performance variant of
the sixth generation Hyundai Avante (Hyundai Elantra) that debuted late last
year. The Avante Sport measures 4,570 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width and 1,435
mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,700 mm. With that said, the only
dimension change is the height being reduced by 5 mm.
The Sport variant gets modest exterior
tweaks like distinctive HID headlamps with sharper clusters, a six-slat chrome
radiator grille with ‘Turbo’ badge and unique black surround that starts from
the innerside of the headlamps, restyled front bumper featuring horizontal LED
daytime running lights and C-shaped chrome trim on the larger air inlets,
unique side skirts, 18-inch lightweight wheels, modified rear bumper, unique
LED taillamps with C-shaped graphics, ‘Sport’ badge on the tailgate, faux
diffuser and twin exhaust tips. Interior highlights include flat-bottomed steering
wheel with body-colored stitching, sport bucket seats, faux carbon fibre trim
and red accents.
Under the bonnet, there’s a 1.6-litre
T-GDi turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that develops 204 PS and 265 Nm of torque. Transmission choices include 6-speed manual
and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. Multi-link rear suspension is the standard
offering, while an optional Extreme package allows customers to equip the car
with upgraded stabilizer bars, different springs and shocks, as well as a rear
spoiler.
