2016 Proton Persona
Paultan reader, Arvin R, has spotted the
2016 Proton Persona (Iriz sedan) fully undisguised at what appears to be its
TVC shoot in Malaysia. The new Persona will have its Malaysian launch later
this year.
The new Persona basically looks like a
Proton Iriz with a boot. However, there are several features that add a certain
level of distinction from the hatchback. For instance, it has a more dynamic
front-end with sleeker headlights, single-slat Honda-esque chrome grille and a
sportier bumper design. The rear-end has new wraparound taillights mounted on
the stubby boot.
At launch, the 2016 Proton Persona is
likely to source the 1.3 litre and 1.6 litre VVT engines from the Proton Iriz.
On the hatchback, the former delivers 93.8 bhp and 120 Nm of torque while the
bigger unit makes 107.2 bhp and 150 Nm of torque. Back in January, Proton had
announced an all-new range of engines developed with Petronas, which include
new 1.3 litre and 1.6 litre direct-injected (GDI/TGDI) engines that could be
offered in the Persona from late 2017.
The new Persona will fortify Proton’s
all new range of sedans, which will comprise of the 2016 Proton Preve, 2016
Proton Saga and the thoroughly facelifted Proton Perdana before the end of this
year.
