2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Convertible
Chevrolet pulled a nice one with the
official launch of the Camaro ZL1 Convertible at the New York Auto Show.
Offering "comparable performance to
the coupe model", as the manufacturer states, it uses the Corvette Z06-sourced
6.2-liter LT4 supercharged V8 that's rated at 640 HP and 868 Nm of torque.
Customers can choose between the
six-speed manual or the new 10-speed automatic that made its debut at the the
Coupe and will be introduced in eight GM models by the end 2018.
The ZL1 has been designed with the
Convertible in mind from the beginning, so the chassis of the drop-top muscle
car has "only a few minor structural differences" to that of the
Coupe.
The Bow Tie proudly claims that, unlike
rivals, the ZL1 has no need for additional packs to make it suitable for the
track as it comes with every feature that's needed for top performance. These
include the Performance Traction Management, updated Magnetic Ride suspension,
electronic limited-slip differential, Custom Launch Control and Driver Mode
Selector. The top Camaro rides on 20-inch forged aluminum wheels, wrapped in
Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar rubber, that house the Brembo brakes .
Deliveries of the ZL1 Convertible will
commence in early 2017.
