2017 Chevrolet Silverado
High Dessert
Chevy's Silverado lineup of
special edition models is welcoming a new member that's largely based on this
2014 SEMA concept vehicle.
The 'High Desert' pack is
available on LT, LTZ and High Country trim levels and is said to combine the
new exterior styling and the all-new cargo system that's both lockable and
water resistant, with the available Magnetic Ride Control suspension.
The lockable storage system
in the cargo bed is flexible enough so as to lock cargo away safely, while
protecting it from the elements. The system also adds dual side storage bins
and a three-piece hard tonneau cover.
Customers that buy the High
Desert pack along with an LT trim level model will get 20" wheels with
all-season tire, while 22" wheels and all-terrain tires are available on
LTZ and High Country versions.
This also happens to be the
first Silverado offered with Magnetic Ride Control suspension, reading the road
every millisecond and triggering damping changes in as little as five milliseconds
in the electronically-controlled shock absorbers.
The
Silverado's EcoTec3 6.2-liter V8 unit is available on LTZ and High Country
models, as is the Hydra-Matic 8L90 eight-speed automatic transmission. With 420
HP and 623 Nm of torque, this is the most powerful engine available
now in a light-duty truck.
