2017 Volkswagen Beetle
Volkswagen has just freshened up the
Beetle and Beetle Cabriolet range with a series of exterior and interior
tweaks.
On the outside, the 2017 VW Beetle
benefits from different bumpers across the Basic, Design Line and R-Line trims,
along with tinted LED taillights, a choice of 17-inch Philadelphia and 18-inch
Ravenna Adamantium wheels and two paint options called Bottle Green Metallic
and White Silver Metallic.
Open the door and you will be greeted by
the new dial, dashpad styling and brighter instrument panel on the Design Line
and R-Line versions, joined by further individualization options comprising of
three new upholstery materials and style packages.
The updated Beetle R-Line, previously
known as Beetle Sport, can be had with the optional R-Line interior package,
which adds special logos on the sill panel moldings and head restraints and
sportier multi-function leather-wrapped steering wheel; it can also be ordered
with Kyalami design textile seat covers or Vienna leather. Prices for the
package are set at € 895 (US$ 1,000).
The engine choice remains unchanged, as
the Beetle Coupe and Cabriolet can be had with three petrol units and two
diesel burners, with outputs ranging between 105 PS and 220 PS. Prices remain at the same level and start from € 18,375 (US$ 20,540) for the
1.2-liter TSI 105 PS Coupe, while the cheapest drop-top can be had from € 22,800
(US$ 25,485).
If you want your Beetle to stand out
furthermore, then you can go for the Denim special model, based on the 1974
Jeans Beetle, which has a Stonewashed Blue Metallic paint finish, jeans-colored
convertible roof and 17-inch Circle wheels, in Dark Graphite. Inside, it
features sports seats with blue covers, storage pockets in jeans style and
aluminum-blue matte-colored dashpad set. Prices for the special edition kick
off at € 23,600 (US$ 26,380).
The refreshed Beetle family ends with
the Exclusive models, available in both body styles, based on the Design and
R-Line equipment lines, featuring Twister style black alloy wheels with bright
machined surface, black dashpad, aluminum sill panel moldings with
"Volkswagen Exclusive" lettering, Nappa leather on the seat center
panels and side bolsters and the Cool Leather, which is said to maintain a low
temperature even in sunlight. Prices for the Beetle Exclusive Coupe start from
€ 24,200 (US$ 27,050), while the Beetle Exclusive Cabriolet can be ordered from €28,550
(US$ 31,910).
Joining the lineup by the end of the
year will be the ALLSTAR special model, priced at € 22,775 (US$ 25,455), which
stands out with the 17-inch alloy wheels in Linas styling and ALLSTAR lettering
on the sill panel mouldings. This version will be equipped with dual-zone
climate control, Composition Media radio system with navigation and
"Beetle compartment".
VW has opened the order books for the
