Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Convertible
Presented over last weekend's concours
event on the shores of Lake Como, the Vanquish Zagato Concept caused quite a
stir.
The last in a long line of coach-built
vehicles, Zagato counted collaborations in the past with Ferrari, Lamborghini,
Jaguar, Maserati, Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Jaguar and others.
Crafted from carbon fiber, the study
features a wide array of design elements that pay tribute to the Brit luxury
automaker's past models, while carrying modern touches as seen on the One-77
supercar, track-only Vulcan and the recent DB11.
Aside from the visual tweaks, engineers
fiddled with the 5.9-liter V12 engine and gave it an extra 24 PS,
raising the total output to 600 PS, and if mods stopped here, then we
can assume that the car needs less than 4 seconds to go from naught to 100 km/h and will keep accelerating up to 324 km/h.
While the concept shown at the 2016
Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este takes pride to be a coupe, X-Tomi's own
interpretation shows how it would look like as a Volante, which is Aston slang
for convertible, waving goodbye to the double-bubble roof, adding to a new
visual drama and wetting potential customers' appetite.
