BMW M6 Celebration Edition
As BMW continues celebrating its
centenary, its Japanese division has just launched another special.
Appropriately called the Celebration Edition, it's based on the M6, but
features some festive upgrades to mark the occasion.
The Celebration Edition packs the latest
Competition Package (as well as the M Driver's Package), the 4.4-liter
twin-turbo V8 in this special M6 doesn't just produce 560 horsepower (or even
575 like the previous Competition model) but a nice round 600 hp, accompanied
by 516 lb-ft of torque. It's all driven to the rear wheels through a
seven-speed dual-clutch transmission to give it a 0-62 time of 3.9 seconds and
a top speed quoted at 189 mph.
To make it stand out from “lesser”
Bimmers, the special edition is done up in Austin Yellow with carbon trim and
rides on 20-inch black alloys. The interior is finished to match with black
leather and yellow contrast stitching, along with a Bang & Olufsen sound
system and other goodies.
Sadly only 13 examples will be made, and made
available only in Japan, each priced at a princely ¥ 23,210,000, which works
out to more than US$ 350,000 at current exchange rates.
