Fiat Tipo Hatch & SW
(UK)
Fiat's new Tipo Hatchback
and Station Wagon models will cost UK buyers upwards of £ 12,995 for the 5-door
and £ 13,995 for the SW, once sales start later this year.
Both versions will be
offered in three trim levels, where entry-level models will get the basics such
as air conditioning, remote central locking, front electric windows,
body-colored door mirrors, chrome door handles, split rear seats, DAB digital
radio, six airbags, USB and Bluetooth connectivity as well as a multi-function
steering wheel. The SW will get rear electric windows and longitudinal roof
bars, on top of all the features already available on the 5-door model.
Customers who'll be wanting
a bit more kit to go with their entry-level Tipo can opt for the front fog
lights (£ 150), dark tinted rear windows (£ 175), rear electric windows ((£ 240 -
standard on the SW), 16" alloys (£ 350), rear parking sensors (£ 300) or the
five-inch Uconnect touchscreen system with Live services, DAB and sat-nav
(£ 500).
The Uconnect touchscreen
infotainment system is standard on the mid-range trim level, as is the
leather-trimmed steering wheel and gear knob, rear power windows, LED daytime
running lights, 16" alloys, front fog lights, rear parking sensors and
cruise control. On average, the price for a mid-trim level model is £ 1000 over
that of the entry-level model.
Key options for the mid-trim
models include a sat-nav upgrade (£ 250), a reversing camera (£ 300) and two
Safety Packs, with Pack A adding adaptive cruise control, speed limiter and AEB
for £ 500 (unavailable on the entry-level trim or 1.4-liter engine models), and
Pack B offering just the speed limiter function together with AEB for £ 250.
As for the top trim level,
it builds on the mid-range spec by adding sat-nav with TomTom LIVE services
(including HD traffic), climate control, 17" alloys, automatic lights and
wipers, rear view camera, driver's side lumbar support and a chrome pack - all
standard. The only options available are the leather upholstery with heated
seats (£ 750) and the previously mentioned Safety Packs A & B.
Performance-wise, there are
five available engines in total, three of them petrol and two diesels. The
petrol engine lineup starts with a 1.4-liter 16v unit producing 95 HP and 127
Nm (93 lb-ft), a 1.4 T-Jet turbo unit with 120 HP and 206 Nm (151 lb-ft) and a
1.6-liter e-TorQ engine, good for 110 HP and 152 Nm (112 lb-ft) - available
exclusively with a six-speed automatic transmission.
Customers looking for better
fuel economy can choose between any of the two available diesel units, namely
the 1.3-liter MultiJet II, producing 95 HP and 200 Nm of torque or
the 1.6-liter MultiJet II with a hefty 120 HP and 320 Nm on tap.
Also, if pulling power is a
priority, the 1.4-liter T-Jet and 1.6-liter MultiJet II will provide the best
acceleration, with respective 0-100 km/h) sprint times of 9.5 (9.8 SW)
seconds and 9.8 seconds (10.1 SW). However, in terms of fuel economy, either of
the two available diesel options will perform best, identically rated at 76.3
UK mpg (3.7l/100 km).
Both hatchback as well as SW
versions of the all-new Fiat Tipo will go on sale in the UK in September.
