Honda Super Cub, BB Cub and Scoop Cub
concepts
The Honda Super Cub, BB Cub and Scoop
Cub are on display at 2016 Bangkok Motor Show. Based on the Super Cub retro
classic concept which debuted at last year’s Tokyo Motor Show, the two other
concepts demonstrate that an affordable work horse can also double up as a
style statement. Though the concepts have a common base, they subscribe to very
different schools of thought.
Honda Super Cub Concept
The concept derives its design
inspiration from the original 1958 model which put Honda on the global two
wheeler map. The concept even faithfully replicates its ancestor’s color theme
and small drum brakes as its way of paying tribute.
The Super Cub production model is
currently available in 50 cc and 110 cc variants. The concept’s speedo meter
stops at 60 kmph indicating that it is powered by the diminutive 50 cc petrol
motor.
Honda BB Cub Concept
The BB Cub is a much more masculine
interpretation of the Super Cub with thick-spoke wheels, larger tyres, sturdier
fork and an apron-mounted LED headlamps.
The underbone two-wheeler retains the
classic dual-tone color theme and receives a contrast brown saddle. A digital
instrument console gives a modern touch. The size of the crank case and engine
head suggest that the BB Cub is powered by the 110 cc unit.
Honda Scoop Cub Concept
Designed as a unisex urban commuter, the
Scoop Cub stands can be defined as compact and sporty. The step-through concept
glossy black color theme with contrasting red spoke wheels and headlamp rim.
Headlamp and indicators are LED elements.
The concept boasts of several stand out
features such as thick handlebar grips, interesting foot pegs, near vertical
rear shocks, black finished engine and a cylinder silencer.
The objective of the concepts is to keep
the iconic Cub nameplate in the vogue despite it being more than half-a-century
old. There were no discussions about their production prospects yet.
