New Hyundai Elantra Sport
Presented on its local market under the
Avante moniker, Hyundai's new Elantra Sport will arrive in the United States by
the end of this year.
The US-spec model should remain
virtually identical to the South Korean, with a redesigned bumper at the front
with larger air intakes, Turbo badge on the grille, horizontal LED DRLs, HID
headlamps, larger side skirts, reprofiled bumper at the rear with an
incorporated diffuser, chrome-finished exhaust tips and different signature LED
taillights.
Completing its design is a new set of
18-inch alloy wheels, wrapped in 225/40 rubber, but for some extra cash,
Hyundai will throw in the "Extreme Package", consisting of a rear
spoiler, 18-inch rims with different pattern and performance parts. Inside, the
range-topper has gained sportier seats, flat-bottomed steering wheel, faux
carbon fiber and red accents.
The Elantra Sport is powered by a
1.6-liter T-GDi turbocharged four producing 204 PS and 265 Nm of torque, and is available with a six-speed manual transmission as
standard and, optionally, a dual-clutch seven-speeder. Hitting 100
km/h from a standstill takes 8 seconds.
Expect to catch the first glimpse of the
new Hyundai Elantra Sport at the 2016 SEMA Show this October.
