SEAT Leon STCC
The
SEAT Leon STCC is as serious as a race car gets. It represents a joint effort
between PWR Racing and SEAT Sweden and will take part in this year’s season of
the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship season. It has very little in common
with the regular Leon as the STCC version has made the switch to a rear-wheel
drive layout and uses a six-speed sequential gearbox.
While the road-going Leon is powered
only by four-cylinder engines, the STCC model uses a larger 3.5-liter V6
delivering 420 horsepower. It benefits from a mechanical
limited-slip differential and will ride on 18-inch wheels wrapped in 260/660/18
front and 280/660/18 rear Michelin tires.
In terms of design, it looks vastly different
compared to the regular three-door Leon and adopts a longer and wider body
featuring a massive rear wing. Bigger front, side, and rear vents improve
cooling, while the stopping power comes from 370-mm front & 360-mm rear
discs with four-piston calipers.
PWR Racing will soon reveal the driver
lineup before the car’s track debut later this month during the pre-season
tests. The team has signed a four-year contract with SEAT Sweden starting with
the 2016 season after it raced two SAABs last year for team co-owner Daniel
Haglöf and Emma Kimiläinen.
Details about this year’s numbers of cars and info
about the drivers are not available at this point. However, rumor has it
Haglöf, Kimiläinen and former BMW driver Fredrik Larsson could race the Leon
STCC.
