VW Polo SUV
Volkswagen is currently working on the
next generation VW Polo, which will spawn an SUV that is expected to launch in
global markets from 2017-2018.
Car and Driver Brasil has rendered the
production-spec VW Polo SUV (name unconfirmed) based on cues borrowed from the
VW T-Cross Breeze concept. It will be based on the shortest version of the MQB
platform (dubbed MQ A0), and is reported to be shorter than the Audi Q2 which
is 4,191 mm-long.
With the new platform, the Polo SUV will
also get a new range of fuel efficient powertrains such as new 1.0- and
1.5-litre TSI engines paired to manual or DSG gearboxes. The T-Cross Breeze
concept had a 1.0-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine that produces 110 PS and
175 Nm of torque. It’s unclear if VW will offer its 4MOTION AWD system in the
Polo SUV.
With VW shelving the compact VW Taigun,
the upcoming Polo SUV will be the smallest in VW’s utility range.
