2017 Ford Fusion Sport
Ford's performance-focused Fusion Sport
is now available for order. Paying the sticker price of US$ 34,350 will give you
access to the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6, which pumps out 325 HP and 475
Nm of torque, making it 3 HP and 24 Nm more powerful than a BMW
340i. The unit is matched to a six-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel
drive is also part of the package.
Realistically speaking, the Fusion Sport
may not match its Bavarian-made competitor in all chapters, but if
straight-line acceleration is what tickles your fancy, then you can consider it
a bargain, since it's almost US$ 13,500 cheaper than the equivalent 340i xDrive.
Standard items include the continuously
controlled damping and pothole mitigation tech, rear decklid spoiler, 19-inch
wheels painted in Tarnished Dark and four exhaust pipes, while inside, it
benefits from manual climate control, power front seats with heating function,
wrapped in suede and leather, Ford SYNC, SiriusXM radio and the brand's
Intelligent Access with Remote Start.
Start ticking the options list with
adaptive cruise control, navigation system, vented seats and dual-zone climate
control and you will eventually pay close to US$ 40,000. You can also have the
Sport Upgrade Package, for a premium US$ 2,000, Driver Assist Package for US$ 1,625,
Active Park Assist, which costs US$ 995 and Power Moonroof and Universal Garage
Door Opener, setting you back for an extra US$ 1,095.
The first units of the 2017 Fusion Sport
will arrive in dealers, at the end of summer, but in the meantime, you can play
with Ford's online configurator here.
