BMW RnineT Heritage range
Driven by the growing popularity of
modern classic motorcycles, BMW Motorrad is going to launch a new Heritage
range of motorcycles based on the R nineT. The range will
initially have three models based on the oil-cooled platform, which will make
their debut at the EICMA Show in Milan, later this year.
The new Heritage range will turn to BMW
models from the yesteryears for inspiration. Though BMW hasn’t been forthcoming
about which genres these three models will be based on, we can expect the
company to create a Scrambler and an adventure bike along the lines of the
R80G/S Dakar. The third model might be a classic harking back to the
semi-faired café racers of the 1960s and 1970s.
The popularity of the Bonneville and
Yamaha’s Sport Heritage range have showcased the potential of such motorcycles.
A growing number of motorcyclists have been turning to leisure bikes and modern
classics. These motorcycles offer the best of both worlds – the appeal of a
classic along with the performance and reliability of a modern motorcycle.
The
BMW RnineT was rolled out as a blank canvas for enthusiasts to customise their
dream motorcycle and as such presents the perfect platform for the new Heritage
range.
