Perodua D63D sedan
The Perodua D63D was confirmed to be in
the pipeline last year. Now, funtasticko.net has published fully undisguised
images of the upcoming B-segment sedan that shows its exterior.
The D63D is the codename of the
B-segment sedan, but it’s real name is yet to be known. Reports suggest that
the Perodua D63D won’t be a completely in-house developed product from Perodua.
The company may use an existing Toyota/Daihatsu platform.
The Perodua D63D will be powered by
Toyota Motor’s 1NR-VE 1.3-litre Dual VVT-i petrol engine currently found in the
Toyota Avanza and the Daihatsu Xenia. This engine is manufactured by Astra
Daihatsu Motor, an Indonesian subsidiary of Daihatsu. Daihatsu had announced
last year that this engine will be manufactured at a new engine plant that will
commence operation in mid-2016.
Not much is known about what Perodua
plans to offer in the D63D. The Malaysian publication’s report says that the
D63D will be equipped with an engine push-start button, as well as vehicle stability
control, traction control and other mandatory safety systems for receiving a
5-star safety rating from ASEAN NCAP.
