Yamaha Cygnus Alpha Disc Brake
Reacting quickly to the launch of TVS
Jupiter MillionR disc brake variant, Yamaha has fielded a disc brake equipped
variant of the Cygnus Alpha 113 cc automatic scooter.
The Yamaha Alpha disc brake variant
comes in two exclusive color themes namely Radiant Cyan and Marvel Black. The
new variant is priced at INR 52,566 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The range-topping variant will be
available across the country from mid-June. The existing drum brake variants
will continue to be retailed. Yamaha says that the Cygnus Alpha is based on the
concept of “easy to go and high utility city mover”.
The automaker scooter is powered by an
air-cooled engine which makes 7.1 PS at 7,500 rpm and 8.1 Nm of torque at 5,000
rpm. The CVT (Continuously Varying Transmission) harnesses the output. Yamaha
claims that the Blue Core fuel efficiency-enhancing measures have resulted in a
mileage of 66 kmpl.
Visually, Yamaha Alpha disc brake
variants sport dual-color theme with new decals on the rear part of the engine
cover. The scooter is based on a steep tubular underbone chassis which is
suspended by telescopic front forks and a single-sided rear shock absorber. The
scooter has an under seat storage space of 21 litres.
The Yamaha Alpha has been one of the
primary volume spinners for the brand in India. The disc brake variant would
add to its appeal.
