2016 Mercedes-AMG SLC 43 (India)
Mercedes SLK 55 has been pretty popular
among performance car enthusiasts. The SLK class has taken a new badge, which
is SLC. The top of the line model in the SLC lineup is the Mercedes-AMG SLC 43,
which replaces the SLK 55. The car is all set to launch in India on 26th July.
Mercedes Benz has taken the strategy to
simplify its nomenclature to show the car’s origin. The 2016 Mercedes-AMG SLC
43 is a facelift of the SLK 55. Major changes come in form of the new badge,
cosmetic updates and the engines. At the front fascia the 2016 Mercedes-AMG SLC
43 sports new sharp LED headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights.
The diamond pattern front grille
features a sleek horizontal chrome slat at the middle. The three pointed star
logo at centre is visible with glossy black finish. The front bumper has been
redesigned as well.
At the side profile only major change is
the 18 inch light alloy wheels, instead of SLK 55’s 16 inch wheels. The rear
profile features new design LED taillights, new bumper, black diffuser and
chrome tipped dual exhausts.
The interior has been revamped as well.
It sports a multifunction steering wheel, revised instrument cluster, 7 inch
COMAND touchscreen infotainment system at the centre console. The cabin also
features aluminium trims with carbon fibre finishing. The roof mechanism of the
sports coupe has been improved.
Power source for the 2016 Mercedes-AMG
SLC 43 sports coupe is a downsized 3.0 litre V6 biturbo engine. Incidentally the
SLK 55 is powered by a 5.5 litre V8 petrol engine. Transmission duty in 2016
Mercedes-AMG SLC 43 is done by a 9G-TRONIC automatic gearbox.
The engine churns out 367 hp of peak
power at 5500 rpm and 520 Nm of peak torque at 2000 rpm. The 2016 Mercedes-AMG
SLC 43 can accelerate 0 – 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds which is slower than SLK 55.
It also has a top speed of 250 km/h.
