2017 Hyundai Elantra Sport (USA)
Hyundai has lifted the veils off the
all-new US market 2017 Elantra Sport, which now comes with turbo power and a
multilink rear suspension.
Deemed as the most powerful Elantra
model ever, the new Sport is powered by a turbocharged 1.6-litre GDI petrol
engine with “more than 200 hp and 190 lb-ft of torque”.
Customers will be able to choose between
a six-speed manual and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The chassis is
fitted with an exclusive multilink rear suspension to ensure a sportier
handling while the exterior gains a subtle body kit and bigger alloy wheels.
The small changes continue inside the
cabin which now features a flat-bottom steering wheel, sports seats and red
contrast stitching. Hyundai didn’t reveal any more details on the performance
or pricing of the new Elantra Sport which will become available closer to the
on-sale date which is the fourth quarter of 2016.
The new Hyundai Elantra Sport is
expected to rival cars like the upcoming Honda Civic Si and the Ford Focus ST
when it finally hits the market.
