Ashok Leyland Rhino 4x4


Along with the Ambulance 4x4 and FAT 6x6, Ashok Leyland Rhino 4x4 is also being showcased at the 2016 DefExpo in Goa.

Ashok Leyland Rhino 4x4 is a heavy duty defence vehicle which is built to deliver supplies and crew in the treacherous of terrains. The company has revealed that they have received new order worth INR 800 crore for their defence vehicles from Indian Army.


Powered by Ashok Leyland’s BSIII compliant six cylinder diesel engine, it has a payload capacity of 5 tonnes and a Gross Vehicle Weight of 12,460 kg. Transmission is taken care by a five-speed automatic gearbox with two-speed transfer case (manual transmission is offered as an option). Top speed claimed is 90 km/h.

Cabin includes a sleeper cab with hydraulic tilt mechanism, HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning) system, Tilt and Telescopic steering wheel.


Key features on offer with Rhino 4x4 includes rear view camera, fully automatic CTIS – Centralised Tyre Inflation System with inflation and deflation of tyre pressure possible on the move, emergency power steering (optional), ABS, 10-liter PUF insulated drinking water tank and run flat tyres.
