BMW 4 Series facelift (rendering)
The sixth generation BMW 3 Series
received its mid-life facelift last year. Now, BMW is working on the mid-cycle
update of the BMW 4 Series range. The 2017 BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe and 2017 BMW
4 Series Coupe were spied testing recently. A rendering from IAB’s automotive
illustrator Shoeb Kalania shows how the BMW 4 Series facelift may look like.
The exterior changes on the
facelifted BMW 4 Series are understood to be limited to restyled front and rear
bumpers and tweaked headlights and taillights. Interior changes may deal with
new trim and upholstery and an updated infotainment system.
Along with the equipment updates, BMW
may as well improve the driving dynamics with changes in elements such as the
suspension and steering. The engine and transmission choices will more or less
remain the same. BMW already offers a wide variety of petrol and diesel engines
in the 4 Series, and with the facelifted model, displacements should range from
1.5- to 3.0-litre and outputs ranging from 136 PS to 326 PS.
The transmission choices should continue
being 6-speed manual and 8-speed automatic. Base models will feature a
rear-wheel drive, while remaining models will have the option of the xDrive
permanent all-wheel drive system.
