Lamborghini Huracan Superleggera
The name hasn’t officially been
confirmed, however it is all but a foregone conclusion – pictured here testing
at the Nurburgring Nordschleife is essentially what will be the Lamborghini
Huracan Superleggera. The recipe remains as before: take the standard car,
reduce weight, increase power and add aero enhancements.
The aerodynamic enhancements aspect on
the uprated Huracan is rather more obvious compared to its previous circuit
outing, as the spied unit wears a more aggressive front splitter, larger rear
wing, and a deep, prominent rear diffuser.
On weight reduction, it is still early
days in terms of confirming a weight reduction estimate; the previous Gallardo
Superleggera LP570-4 managed a 70 kg weight saving over its standard
stablemate, so perhaps a similar margin is in order.
Also as before, the Superleggera
treatment marks an evolutionary upgrade to the power plant rather than a
revolutionary one, and so the high-revving, naturally-aspirated V10 should
remain, with an estimated 650 hp expected.
Where the Gallardo previously offered a
manual transmission alongside the robotised manual on the Superleggera, the
Huracan appears set for the sole choice of a dual-clutch automatic. Also in the
tradition of Gallardo Superleggeras of old, all-wheel-drive should be retained
for the new top-shelf roadgoing V10 Lambo.
Also increasing in aggression is the
Huracan’s exhaust note, which according to our spy photographer sources is even
harder-edged that the standard car’s. Speaking of the exhaust, the tailpipes
have been relocated from their usual positions on the standard car, to a more
central position in the middle of the rear bumper.
The Superleggera makeover will make its
Huracan debut first on the coupe, and then later on in the Huracan’s lifecycle
a Spyder Performante variant can be expected for the open-top junior
Lamborghini, as it did with the Gallardo.
