New Renault Megane Cabriolet
In all likelihood, it's not a matter of
if, but when the new Megane gets an open-top variant. Joining the hatchback,
estate and recently unveiled sedan, the convertible will feature a hard-top
folding roof and the chassis will, inadvertently, be strengthened to offset the
loss of rigidity compared to the fixed-top versions.
The engine lineup should comprise most,
if not all, of the petrol and diesel units that power the rest of the Megane
family, though an RS is off the table, as the convertible is comfort, and not
performance, oriented.
Unless Renault surprises us with a Paris
Show unveiling, we won't see the convertible before first half of 2017. As for
the design, this rendering, which in our opinion looks quite realistic, shows
one possible direction the French could adopt.
