Shelby GT500CR 'Blurple'


Few Ford Mustang iterations are as recognizable or iconic as those from the mid-1960's, particularly those adorned with the fabled Shelby badge. Complete with an iconic fastback shape, gaping wide air intakes, flared arches and those absolutely sexual taillights, it's not hard to see why.

If one has the money, numerous company's offer restorations for these Shelby Mustangs, helping to bring them into the 21st century while still maintaining that addictive shape. One of the best restomod teams come from Classic Recreations who have just finished work on one of the finest units we've come across.


Officially dubbed the Blurple GT500CR, this Mustang is headlined by its blue-purple paint finish and adoption of satin silver racing stripes. While the exterior is absolutely stunning, it is under the hood where things get particularly interesting.

Gone is the original engine and in its place sits a huge 7.0-liter V8 from Ford Performance. Complemented by a supercharger, it offers up 770 hp to the rear wheels courtesy of a manual transmission.


To handle the massive power, a set of six-piston calipers from Wilwood have been fitted has have QA1 coilovers at the front and Varishock units at the rear end. There are also a set of bespoke 18-inch wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich Rival rubber.

The inside has also been thoroughly overhauled and includes custom leather-wrapped seats, a distinctive wooden three-spoke steering wheel, JVC headunit and a speaker system courtesy of Kicker. This particular car was commissioned by a customer in the Middle East at the cool cost of US$ 234,000.
