Yamaha R15 V3 (render)

Yamaha’s R15 was the first taste India got, of a proper budget track bred machine. The bike, with its full fairing, and text book sports bike looks, garnered a huge fan base. This was further improved upon with the advent of the V2.0. The bike now features a wider, better tyres, a remapped ECU and upgraded styling.

Though the design now is quite an old one, it has stood the test of time. The Yamaha R15 still holds its own against newer competition. However, Yamaha will be giving the R15 a long due update.

While the introduction of the R15-S might have been a debatable topic, the upcoming V3.0 has got every Yamaha fanboy clutching at their blankets. A new render for the same, has just been published. The rendering borrows a majority of the styling cues from Yamaha’s recent line-up of products like the M-Slaz and R3. While the design looks very handsome and desirable, it is nothing like the one that was spied while testing earlier this year.

The render combines elements from the M-Slaz, like the upside down telescopic forks up front, and the R3’s exhaust design. The racing clip-ons, combined with the seat and foot-peg setup suggests a very aggressive riding position, maybe even more so than the Version 2. The pillion seat however, even though smaller, seems to be at a lower height, which could be implemented, as the V2.0’s pillion seat is pretty much unusable as it is on the second floor.

Underneath the design, we have no concrete news about the Yamaha R15 V3’s mechanicals. While we strongly hope for a punchier engine, the rumours have been pointing towards little to no change over the V2.0.
