1974 De Tomaso Pantera GTS America
This Ford
V8-powered De Tomaso Pantera GTS America from the mid-seventies worth more than
a brand-new Lamborghini Huracan?
At US$ 249,000, the asking price is by all
standards steep, especially since we're not talking about 1970s Lamborghini or
Ferrari classics. Still, it's a rare car, as this example is one of just 133
models made for the United States.
It's wearing a Ghia-designed body, but
unlike its better known rivals, it has a Ford-sourced, 351 CID Cleveland V8
mid-mounted engine, paired to a ZF five-speed manual transmission that channels
266 HP and 408 Nm of torque to the rear wheels.
Nevertheless, even by today's standards, its ability to shoot from naught to 96 km/h in 6 seconds is acceptable.
Produced in 1974, it had just four owners throughout its entire lifetime, who mostly kept it away from the road, so its odometer currently reads a mere 785 miles (1,263 km), which, according to the ad posted on eBay, are actual miles that can be proved with the necessary documentation, so it's no wonder that its condition, both inside and out, appears to be immaculate.
