2017 Roush Mustang RS
Looking for a Mustang a little different
from showroom stock? You're in luck, because there are plenty of tuners
applying their skills to the pony car. Roush is arguably among the best of
them, and now it's made its performance (or at least its styling) that much
more accessible with the launch of the 2017 Roush Mustang RS.
Based on the base V6 model, the RS
package leaves the engine alone and focuses mostly on appearance. It features a
full aero kit, including new grille openings, front splitter, decklid spoiler,
and air scoops in the hood, rear fender and windowframe.
Roush badges appear all over the vehicle
to let everyone know where it came from, and there are plenty of customization
options inside and out. Blacked-out 19-inch wheels come standard, but customers
can step up to 20-inch alloys coated in ultra-high-performance Cooper rubber.
There's an exhaust upgrade available as
well, but aside from that, the 3.7-liter V6 engine stays bone stock at 300
horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. But here's the kicker: the upgrade costs
only US$ 4,500, for a turn-key price of less than US$ 30,000. That's less than you'd
pay for a base GT fastback, but with a whole lot more style – even if it does
only run skin deep.
