Aston Martin GT12 Roadster (Spyshot)
When Aston Martin launched the Vantage
GT12 back in 2015, many thought a drop-top version would soon follow but it
never did. Until June's Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The British marque released the GT12
Roadster but interestingly, it was a one-off creation produced by the firm's Q
personalization division for a wealthy client and not a production model.
Despite that car being billed as a
one-off, a GT12 Roadster prototype has just been snapped testing at the
Nurburgring suggesting that the car received such a positive reaction that
Aston has decided to put it into limited production.
We could just be months away from seeing
a fully-fledged GT12 drop-top hitting the market with a screaming 6.0-liter
naturally-aspirated V12 engine, sending off the marque's all-motor powertrains
with a bang. That means we could also be just months away from hearing about an
annoyed collector who no longer owns a unique car.
Perhaps Aston Martin made an agreement
with the commissioner of the 'one-off' GT12 Roadster that it was going to put
the car into production? Or is this prototype testing something out entirely?
Maybe a turbocharged engine from AMG?
