BMW M3 “30 Years M3”
BMW loves its birthday editions, as
demonstrated with the “30 Jahre M5” from a couple of years ago. As the name
suggests, this time around it’s the M3’s turn to stake 30 candles into its
cake, and the “30 Jahre M3” seen here is based upon the F80 M3 Competition
Package.
Only 500 units will be available
worldwide, and the United States will receive 150 units, with prices starting
from US$ 83,250 if one goes for the manual variant, or US$ 86,150 for the M DCT dual-clutch automatic.
As with the Competition Package M3,
power from the 3.0 litre twin-turbo straight-six is raised by 19 hp to 450 hp
while peak torque remains at 550 Nm. The Adaptive M suspension has also been
retuned with new springs, dampers and anti-roll bars, while 20-inch Style 666M
multi-spoke wheels, similar in design to the M4 GTS, have been fitted.
Harking back to the same optional colour
from the E30 M3, the latest M3 comes clad in the 30th anniversary-specific
Macao Blue paint job. Completing the list of included goodies are the High
Gloss Shadow Line exterior trim (expanded to include black kidney grilles,
fender vent accents, door mirrors, tailpipes and model badge), lightweight M
sports seats and seat belts with woven-in BMW M strips.
Inside, a full-leather Merino trimmed
interior comes in a choice of Black/Fjord Blue or Black/Silverstone, as well as
a “30 Years M3” logo incorporated into various places on the car, including the
fender vents, door sill plates and the front seat headrests. All this, plus the
exclusivity of being among just 150 Stateside examples, await the owner of the
BMW M3 “30 Years M3”.
