Electra Meccanica Solo
A small Vancouver-based company, Electra
Meccanica, has come up with a new zero-emission vehicle, baptized Solo.
Carrying an MSRP of 19,888 CAD (US$ 15,218) and scheduled to be launched on September 9, the three-wheel, single
passenger vehicle has a lightweight aerospace composite chassis, which helps it
tip the scales at just 450 kg.
It comes with a synchronous electric
motor, rated at up to 82 HP and 190 Nm of torque, which allows it
to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in a decent 8 seconds and to a top
speed of 130 km/h, but remove the speed limiter and it will go up to 220 km/h.
The electric motor is fed by an 8.64 kWh
lithium-ion battery, which takes as little as 3 hours to charge from 220V, and
once filled, it will offer a total range of up to 160 km.
The small electric vehicle is available
in four colors - Arctic White, Electric Red, Raven Black and Titanium Silver,
and rides on 15-in aluminum alloy wheels.
Billed as "the smartest commuter
car on the planet", Electra Meccanica's Solo features 75 gallons (285
liters) of cargo space, remote keyless entry, power windows, LCD digital
instrument cluster, radio, CD, USB, Bluetooth, backup camera, heater and
defogger and it comes with a 2-year unlimited mileage warranty.
