Honda WR-V (spyshot)
Honda has been known to be working on a
new Honda Jazz-based crossover, which is reportedly named Honda WR-V, for quite
some time now. In the latest, the Honda WR-V has been spied in production body
in Brazil, courtesy Auto Esporte.
The Honda WR-V will be based on the
Honda Jazz’s platform, and will likely use the same engines as the hatchback.
As seen in speculative renderings during
the past few months, the Honda WR-V will look mostly like a jacked-up Honda
Jazz with off-road styling. Citing a source familiar with the vehicle’s
development, a report earlier said that the WR-V’s wheelbase will measure 2.60
metres.
In Brazil, the Honda WR-V will be
powered by a 1.5-litre engine which would be the Honda Jazz’s i-VTEC FlexOne
flex-fuel unit that produces 115 hp (petrol)/116 hp (ethanol) and 149 Nm
(petrol)/150 Nm (ethanol) of torque.
The Honda WR-V will be unveiled at the
2016 Sao Paulo Auto Show in November, and likely be launched in South America
first. The crossover will be launched in India too, reportedly sometime in
2017. For India, Honda would offer the 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol and the
1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine with manual and CVT (only available on the
petrol) gearboxes.
