Mahindra e2o (UK)

The Mahindra e2o electric city car has been launched in the UK, its first overseas market, at a starting price of 12,995 pounds. The top-end e2o TechX trim would set the buyers back by 15,995 pounds.

The e2o is made at Mahindra Reva’s modern facility in Bangalore. Following the UK, the EV would be gradually expanding its reach across the globe. Anand Mahindra, Chairman of Mahindra Group, unveiled the car and its specifications at the London’s Design Museum.

The car is propelled by an electric motor which puts out a modest 25.8 PS and 53.9 Nm of torque. Electricity source is a 48V maintenance free li-ion battery pack which is claimed to offer a range of 120 km under standard test conditions. The two-door 4-seat city car can attain a top-speed of 81 km/h. The drive is transferred to the wheels via an automatic transmission.

Mahindra says that e2o buyers who drive 7,900 miles (12,713 km) per year – the country’s average per capita car usage – and charge at home on Economy 7 tariff at night would incur a fuel expense of 10 pounds per month.

The fully loaded e2o TechX variant is equipped with a host of connectivity features like a touchscreen infotainment system with reverse parking camera, telematics, Revive remote emergency recharging, leather seats, alloy wheels and a rapid charging port.
