Volkswagen New Polo-Based Crossover
Volkswagen is preparing to launch a tiny
new crossover. Just look at these
latest spy shots.
Spotted testing at an apparently early
stage of development, the new VW crossover is expected to be based on the
next-generation Polo and slot in underneath the Golf-based Tiguan. Though
heavily disguised, there's no masking telltale signs of its more versatile
approach like its roof rails, taller form, and higher ride height.
The German automaker gave us a sneak
peek at what it had in store when it unveiled the T-Cross Breeze concept at the
Geneva Motor Show earlier this year. But the production version is slated to
sport a fixed roof and four doors instead of the two-door convertible bodystyle
of the concept.
The new crossover would likely have to
at least offer the option of all-wheel drive, which tells us that whatever
platform underpins this and the next-generation Polo will have to be engineered
to accommodate the extra propshaft.
