VW Polo GTI (Spy Shot)
Since there's probably no better place
to test a speedy pocket rocket than the 'Ring, that's exactly where Volkswagen
brought their all-new fully camouflaged next generation Polo GTI for testing.
Despite the dizzying array of patterns,
the car's overall shape is very VW-ish, showing us its five-door body style,
sporty wheels and large twin tailpipes.
Where the regular Polo is
expected to feature a pair of small turbocharged 1.0-liter units as well as
1.5-liter petrol and diesel engines, the GTI should pack something with a
little more punch, possibly more capable the the current model's 192 PS
1.8-liter TSI, but surely more efficient.
Other than its performance, the new Polo
GTI should benefit from whatever VW engineers are planning for the regular
model, which will feature a longer wheel base (by 90 mm), more room
inside, better interior quality and so-called "big-car technology".
This means smartphone connectivity and
app integration through Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, and possibly the
largest touchscreen in the segment at 9.5".
