1966 Ford Lotus Cortina Mk1
Ford and Lotus held hands for a brief
time during the previous century, with their relationship resulting in the
birth of the first-gen Lotus Cortina.
Assembled in the United Kingdom from
1963 to 1970, the racy two-door sedan used a 1,557 cc engine, which is found in
almost new condition under the hood of this 1966 Lotus Cortina that was
subjected to a full restoration, 15 years and approximately 9,000 miles ago.
Its owner spared no expense in making
this classic Lotus appear to have been kept inside a time capsule. It sports a
white body with green stripes, which was the sole choice for nearly all factory
cars, sans for some official Ford racers and a specific unit that had a dark
blue stripe, because its buyer was superstitious about green.
The sharp restoration continues inside,
where the black leather seats and wood-trimmed steering wheel contribute to the
original look.
