The Honda Gienia has been revealed in
posters ahead of its introduction in China this month, courtesy by autohome.com.cn. The Chinese publication says that the Honda Gienia will be
unveiled at the 2016 Chengdu Motor Show that will open tomorrow.
The Honda Gienia is essentially a hatchback version of the Honda
Griez sedan. The Honda Greiz in turn is a China-only iteration of the Honda
City, meaning the Honda Gienia is basically a Honda City hatchback. Like the
sedan its based on, the B-segment hatchback should be a China-only model.
The Honda Gienia measures 4,517 mm in
length, 1,705 mm in width and 1,477 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,600
mm. Compared to the Greiz, the Gienia is 22 mm shorter in length, but has the
same wheelbase.
The Honda Gienia will powered by a
1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 129 hp and 155 Nm of torque. A
5-speed manual transmission will be standard, but a continuously variable
transmission will be available optionally. The Honda Gienia would be
manufactured by the Dongfeng-Honda joint venture, and will reportedly go on
sale on 18 October in China. For now, the Gienia will remain exclusive to the
Chinese market.
