Yamaha Saluto 125 cc (new colour)
Yamaha Motor
India has two offerings in entry level commuter segment – YBR125 and SS125. But, these do not
attract much attention or sales.
To add boost to their sales in this segment, Yamaha
launched the new Saluto 125 cc back in April 2015. Today, Yamaha India has re-launched the Saluto with a new colour
option : Matt Green. It is available with drum as well as disc brake.
Placed exactly in between the entry level YBR125 and
premium SS125, price of Yamaha Saluto is INR 53,600 for the drum brake variant
and INR 56,100 for the disc brake variant. All prices are ex-showroom, New
Delhi.
Developed around the concept of “Economical and
Practical Indian Family Motorcycle”, Yamaha Saluto is powered by the same 123 cc
single cylinder 4 valve air cooled engine which powers SS125 and YBR125. This
engine delivers 10.88 PS at 7500 rpm and 10.40 Nm at 6,400 rpm aboard the other
two Yamaha 125 cc motorcycles. But, on board the Saluto, it is tuned to deliver
8.3 PS power at 7000 rpm and 10.1 Nm torque at 4500 rpm.
Lightest motorcycle in its class, Yamaha Saluto tips
the weighing scale at just 112 kgs. This directly translates into more mileage.
The reduced weight, and retuned engine, enables Saluto to deliver 10% more
mileage – 78 km/l, claims Yamaha.
The new Yamaha Saluto
gets alloy wheels, electric start, longest seat in class, comfortable foot
rests, upright riding position for comfortable ride. What it misses though, is
optional disc brakes. Yamaha Saluto will compete with likes of Bajaj Discover
125 and Hero Super Splendor.
