2017 Audi A3 Sedan (India)
According to Autocar India, the 2017
Audi A3 Sedan will launched in India in February 2017, powered by downsized 1.4-liter TFSI engine.
The 1.4-liter TFSI unit is what powers the 2016 Audi A4 which was launched in
the country in September this year.
The 1.4-liter TFSI unit delivers 150 hp and 250 Nm,
whereas the 1.8-liter TFSI generates 180 hp and 250 Nm of torque. Despite the
engine downsizing, the A3 Sedan facelift will continue with the 7-speed
S-Tronic dual-clutch transmission, but is expected to be more fuel efficient
than the current model which returns 16.6 km/l (ARAI-tested).
The publication reports that with the engine
downsizing, Audi will also lower the prices of the A3 petrol to an expected
sub-25 lakhs pricetag. The diesel variant will continue with the 2.0-liter TDI
unit, also paired to a 7-speed DSG.
Other changes on the A3 Sedan facelift for India will include A4-like LED headlights, a new grille, a redesigned bumper and newly-designed foglight enclosures and revised taillights. Inside, it gets a new three-spoke steering wheel, an updated MMI system with simplified menus, and the Virtual Cockpit instrument cluster is now available as an option.
