2017 Chrysler 300 SRT (spyshot)
Looking to pick up a Chrysler 300 SRT? Sorry,
but you're out of luck. At least, that is, if you live in North America,
because FCA withdrew the muscle sedan from its domestic market at the end of
the 2014 model year. And yet that's just what, one of our readers spotted right
here in the USA.
Currently offered only in overseas markets, the current 300 SRT packs a 6.4-liter
Hemi V8 rated at 470 horsepower and an equal amount of torque. That's a far cry
from the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat, which is based on the same platform but
which boasts 707 hp.
Does this 300 SRT's presence on the mountain roads
of Colorado tell us that Chrysler is bringing it back to America? Or that it's
getting a more potent engine? Maybe not. FCA still needs to put it through its
paces, no matter where it's selling it. But it does get the proverbial juices
flowing.
The sedan was spotted together with various versions
of the Dodge Challenger and Charger, as well as a Jeep Cherokee, a couple of
Renegades, and a Ram ProMaster City – the latter two of which, at least, are
packing some sort of modified exhaust system. Read into those what you will,
but the prospect of a more potent version of the 300 than the 5.7-liter Hemi
currently available Stateside does get us daydreaming of a Cadillac CTS-V rival
from Auburn Hills.
