2017 Isuzu D-Max facelift (Malaysia)

Isuzu Malaysia has launched its facelifted D-Max line-up, which now comes in three double-cab trim levels : Standard, Premium and a new range-topping Z-Prestige – spread across eight variants in total.

You’ll find an entirely new fascia with projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights and fog lamps. Meanwhile at the rear, there’s a new tailgate panel design, with reverse sensors and reverse camera being standard across the range.

Engine options remain as before, starting with the 4JK1-TCX 2.5 litre turbodiesel, which develops 136 PS at 3,600 rpm and 320 Nm of torque at 1,800 to 2,800 rpm. The 4JJ1-TCX 3.0 litre turbodiesel also returns here, providing 177 PS at 3,600 rpm and 380 Nm at 1,800 to 2,800 rpm.

In any case, models with the larger 3.0 litre engine acquire the ‘V-Cross’ moniker to its name. Transmission options include either a five-speed manual (with gear shift indicator) or a five-speed automatic (with sequential shift).

There are four variants under the D-Max Standard umbrella – 2.5L 4×2 MT Hi-Ride, 2.5L 4×4 MT, 2.5L 4×4 AT, and 3.0L 4×4 AT. Exterior equipment include 16-inch alloy wheels (with 245/70 tyres), conventional radio antenna and bulb-type rear combination tail lamps.

Inside, standard items include a three-spoke urethane or leather-wrapped (Hi-Ride) steering, manual air-conditioning, double-DIN multimedia player (with seven-inch touchscreen display), fabric seats, and an eight-speaker surround sound system.

Then, the Premium range, which includes the 2.5L 4×4 MT and 3.0L 4×4 MT, sees the addition of 18-inch alloys (with 255/60 tyres), LED-type taillights, shark fin-type antenna, and front fog lamps.

As for interior kit, the Premium adds on the e-Lumax instrument panel (with multi-info display), automatic air-conditioning, double-DIN multimedia player (with eight-inch touchscreen display), steering wheel controls, and keyless operation (entry and engine start).

Lastly, the Z-Prestige is available in 3.0L 4×4 AT and 2.5L 4×4 AT guises. Isuzu Malaysia also offers a choice of three different themes corresponding to the three special body colours – Urban Premium (Silky White Pearl), Adventure Rugged (Velvet Red Mica), and Street Rugged (Stallion Black Metallic), with the final two being new additions exclusive to the range-topper. The Standard and Premium get to choose from black, Nautilus Blue Mica, Titan Silver Metallic, and Magnum White Solid.

Aside from the dedicated paintjob, 18-inch alloys finished in grey are fitted on the Z-Prestige Street Rugged and Adventure Rugged, while silver-finished ones make their way onto the Urban Premium. A sports bar and flatbed cover also come as standard on all three Z-Prestige themes.

The interior of the Z-Prestige differs depending on the theme you pick. Go with the Urban Premium, and you get brown leather seat upholstery with black accents; the Street Rugged has black leather with silver accents; and the Adventure Rugged has black leather with red accents. The kit list follows the one on Premium models.

Safety kit also gets a bump across the D-Max range, which now comes standard with ABS, EBD, brake assist, hill start assist (HSA), traction control, and electronic stability control (ESC).
