2017 Mahindra Scorpio Getaway
The 2017 Mahindra Scorpio Getaway has been spied
testing, courtesy Motor World India. The test mule photographed wears
the ‘Mahindra Pik-Up’ badge, meaning that it’s the export-spec version.
The 2017 Mahindra Scorpio Getaway borrows the new
front from the facelifted Mahindra Scorpio, sporting projector headlamps with
LED signature lights, new radiator grille and air dam grille and restyled
bumper. The fog lamps seem to be differently shaped, though.
At the rear, the facelifted model gets a restyled
bumper. The interior could be updated with redesigned dashboard, instrument
cluster, steering wheel, centre console, HVAC vents and gearshift lever, and
incorporation of a new infotainment system.
If the Scorpio Getaway switches to the new Scorpio’s
platform, there would be significant gains. The Scorpio’s hydroformed chassis
is lighter, stronger and stiffer than the current underpinning. The wider
chassis will help in high speed stability and turning circle radius, while the
comprehensively redesigned front section will help improve the pickup’s crash
test rating.
The 2017 Mahindra Scorpio Getaway (facelift) should
be powered by the 2.2-litre mHawk engine that produces 120 bhp and 280
Nm of torque. The turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine will be mated via a
new generation ‘320’ 5-speed manual transmission. The availability of the
shift-on-fly four-wheel drive system could vary as per the market.
