2018 BMW M5 (spyshot)
The spy shots from Autojunk.nl show its
future flagship variant – the 2018 BMW M5. Along with the car’s exterior, its
heavily padded sport seats which apparently has a white-black scheme, is also
seen.
The sixth generation BMW M5 reportedly is
more about being lighter than having more power. The standard seventh-gen 5
Series itself is up to 100 kg lighter compared to the previous model, and a similar
level of weight reduction is likely for the car’s high-performance variant.
The 2018 BMW M5 is said to be powered by the
existing 4.4-litre M TwinPower Turbo twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine. The
motor should receive updates and have its power increased to around 600 hp. It
will be mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, and the xDrive
all-wheel drive system could give it company.
The 2018 BMW M5 sedan will debut in late-2017 and
reach dealerships in early 2018. An M5 estate version is also in the rumour
mill with BMW drawing up plans to take on the Mercedes-AMG E63 Estate and the
Audi RS 6 Avant.
