Honda Line-up (2016 SEMA)
Honda has prepared an impressive army of tuned models
and concepts for 2016 SEMA show, with the spotlight
firmly placed on the tenth generation Civic compact.
The new Honda Civic Type R prototype that
has just been granted a US visa. Building on the new generation Civic hatch, it
offers a preview of the next-year's high-performance model, with little, if any
changes expected on the production car.
Honda continues to keep its powertrain specs a
secret, but word on the street has it that it will use an upgraded version of
the 2.0-liter, turbo'd-four taken from the current model producing over 300
horses.
Joining it at the Las Vegas Convention Center from
November 1 will be the 2017 Civic hatch, with a Euro-inspired styling fitted
with the brand's Factory Performance
accessory concepts that add custom accessories such as a decklid spoiler, new
emblems, brake rotors and carpet floor mats, in addition to the 19-inch alloy
wheels and red underbody spoilers.
Arriving at the SEMA Show straight from the 2016
Global Rallycross season finale, the GRC Civic Coupe Competitive Race car will
join the 2016 Coupe Racing Concept, with a FIA-approved safety cage, that will
compete in domestic and international endurance events, debuting on December
3-4, at the USAF 25 Hour of Thunderhill.
Honda's extensive lineup will also include the SEGA
Sonic Civic, which "embodies the spirit of the 'Sonic the Hedgehog'
classic video game", as the manufacturer explains, adding custom wheels
and tires, an updated exterior, a one-of-a-kind vinyl, and bespoke paint
scheme. Inside, the car has special front and rear seats with Katzkin Blue
Leather, Sonic the Hedgehog 25th Anniversary embroidered logos and a custom
audio-visual system in the trunk, signed by Rockford Fosgate.
Designed as "the ultimate street cruiser",
the Honda Civic Coupe aLL STaR Performance / Tjin Edition comes with several exterior
enhancements, an Axalta Sunrise yellow paint finish, special wheels, custom
coilover kit, upgraded brakes and a Katzkin perforated suede and leather
interior.
The Civic frenzy continues with the Coupe / MAD
Industries, completed with carbon fiber bits and pieces and finished in Aegean
Blue and Jet Black, on top of the custom interior. The one-off also benefits
from the Eibach Pro Kit Performance Springs and 19-inch wheels and is joined by
the Civic Sedan Meguiars Build - Civic X Concept, whose performance is boosted
by Greddy Performance Products' upgrades.
The last Civic to be shown in Las Vegas is the
Body-In-White, which is designed "to allow amateur and pro race teams the
ability to build new race cars without having to tear apart a production
car", according to Honda.
Moreover, a fleet of 2017 Ridgelines will sit on the
showroom floor, including a Black Edition / MAD Industries Sport Truck, paired
to a Powersports MAD Edition CB500F Naked Sport Bike, both of which come with a
similar paint scheme Honda will also present a Tjin Edition that comes together
with the TRX250X ATV, and the RTL-E / Fox Marketing, customized with a series
of Honda Factory Accessories, and paired with the FourTrax Foreman Rubicon 4x4
ATV.
