Proton Saga Aeroback (render)

Here’s something interesting from Mr Rendering, Theophilus Chin. It’s what he calls the “Proton Saga Aeroback”, but it’s unlike the past Aerobacks we know from Proton. It is instead a wagon version of the latest 2016 Proton Saga.

It’s clear where Theo got inspiration from. Besides the fact that the man is a Skoda fan, the rear end of this Saga Wagon looks a lot like the Czech brand’s Rapid Spaceback wagon. Minus the Skoda’s C-shaped tail lamps, plus the Saga’s BMW M Sport-style rear bumper. He also “painted” the roof black.

Theo concedes that “it’s unlikely such a design will appeal to the Malaysian market”, although there’s precedent for an affordably priced wagon that sold reasonably well in Malaysia – the Nissan AD Resort offered by Tan Chong in the early 1990s. The Y10 was not just popular with people who used it for business; it even caught on with the car customisation community.

Proton must have thought of it before too, as spyshots of a “Saga BLM Wagon” was spotted in June. The idea probably didn’t go very far, and an MPV like the upcoming rebadged Suzuki Ertiga should have wider appeal among the masses.
