Renault RBC (rumor)
Renault India appears to have set huge plans for the
Indian market as an investment of Rs. 2,500-3,000 crore is planned over the
course of next four years according to a report emerged on ET Auto.
Around June 2018, Renault has
said to be hitting showrooms with an affordable people carrier. It will be based
on CMF-A modular platform that underpins the Kwid as well. Renault already has
the Lodgy MPV competing against the Ertiga but compared to the segment leader
its sales would only account for about 10 percent monthly.
Therefore, the production version of the internally
codenamed RBC under development may act as an eventual replacement to the Lodgy
or it could be an evolution of the Kwid into a whole new product with overall
length of around four metres.
Powertrain options
could include the 1.5-litre diesel engine producing a maximum power of 84 bhp
at 3,750 rpm and 200 Nm of peak torque delivered at 200 Nm. Drive is sent to
the front wheels through a five-manual transmission and an AMT may as well be
offered in the top-end models.
