Tata Nexon (spy shot)
A pre-production Tata Nexon
prototype was spied
testing by a Crankit’s reader. The Nexon will launch after the Hexa and the
Kite 5, so don’t expect to book one before the second half of next year.
The Nexon spotted seems to be the
top-end variant as it features projector headlights, a ceramic side finisher,
contrast roof, 16-inch alloy wheels, LED taillights and LED daytime running
lights, foglamps and gloss black finish for the wide grille. The design is
influenced by Tata’s IMPACT design language, the idea of the company’s design
chief, Pratap Bose.
The X1 platform based crossover
will be available in petrol and diesel variants. The latter is confirmed to
pack a new 1.5-liter four-cylinder diesel engine producing 110 PS and 260 Nm of
torque, paired with a 6-speed manual or an AMT. The petrol variant is rumored
to feature the turbocharged version of Tiago’s 1.2-liter three-cylinder
Revotron petrol unit. The top variants of Nexon will come equipped
with the ‘Super Drive Modes’ selector.
The Nexon is 3,995 mm long and
has a ground clearance of 200 mm, slotting in the fast-growing sub-4m SUV
segment that comprises of the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport and Mahindra
TUV300.
