The Tork T6X
Tork Motorcycles has unveiled the Tork T6X which is a premium electric bike available in three
colours. The Tork T6X is priced at Rs. 1.25 lakhs (the price is ex-showroom and
promotional and subject to change) and will be available in only three cities
in the first phase : Pune, Bangalore and Delhi. The company states it has taken
them 7 years of extensive R&D to develop their first commercial motorcycle.
The Tork T6X is powered by a 6 kW brushless
DC motor which is paired to a lithium-ion battery, generating Kawasaki Ninja
300 equivalent 27 Nm of torque (right from get go), paired to a single-speed
transmission. The T6X runs 100 kms on a single charge and the top speed is 100
km/h (Tork claims the T6X is engineered to cruise at its top speed). 80%
charge is achieved in 60 minutes and the bike has regenerative braking. The 72
Ah capacity battery lasts for 1000 charge cycles (between 80,000 to 1 lakh kms)
and can be charged using a 48 V socket.
The Tork T6X is underpinned by a trellis frame and
uses telescopic forks at the front and spring loaded hydraulic rear suspension.
Using tubeless tyres on alloy wheels, the front and rear tyre sizes are
100/80/17 and 120/80/17 respectively. The front brake is a 267 mm disc while
the rear is a 220 mm disc. The motorcycle weighs just 130 kgs and has a ground
clearance of 160 mm. The dimensions of the Tork T6X are 1960 mm, 784 mm, 1085
mm and 1336 mm for the length, width, height and wheelbase respectively. The
seat height is 785 mm.
The Tork T6X is loaded with a ton of features
including a 4.3-inch fully digital touch TFT console which gets app and cloud
connectivity. The cluster displays GPS and navigation data and can be connected
to the rider’s mobile phone using Tork’s app, showing the bike’s range, health,
service alerts and customised riding profiles. It also gets a mobile charging
socket and helmet storage. The T6X features daytime running lights, LED turn
signals and tail light, anti-theft, CDS, geo-fencing and ABS.
The Tork T6X’ USP is TIROS (Tork Intuitive Response
Operating System) which does the power management, real time power consumption
and range forecasts, analysis and compilation of data for every ride and also
learns about the rider’s riding habits. The customisable ride modes let’s one
adjust power from sporty to eco-cruiser at the touch of a button. With TIROS,
Tork can automatically update new features on the T6X via the cloud.
Tork Motorcycles plans to set up a charging
infrastructure for its T6X motorcycle. Currently it has six charging centres in
Pune and plans to expand the same to 100 outlets by the end of this year, in
Pune. Tork has received 1000 pre-bookings for the T6X motorcycle
within 24 hours of unveil.
