VW Passat by ABT Sportsline

ABT Sportsline has been enhancing the Passat ever since 1973 and now they've released some new tunes for the latest model.

The German tuner fiddled with nearly the entire engine family of the medium-sized family saloon and estate, starting with the 1.4-liter TSI, whose 150 PS and 250 Nm of torque stock output has been raised to 180 PS and 290 Nm of torque.

Producing 180 PS and 250 Nm of torque in standard form, the 1.8-liter TSI is now capable of churning out 210 PS and 310 Nm of torque, while the 2.0-liter turbo was upgraded from 220 PS and 280 PS to 290 PS and 336 PS, respectively, with torque in both units standing at 420 Nm, up from the production version's 350 Nm.

On the diesel side, ABT offers power upgrades for the 2.0-liter turbo, whose output was raised from 150 PS and 340 Nm to 170 PS and 380 Nm. The 190 PS and 400 Nm version now delivers 215 PS and 440 Nm of torque, while the range-topper TDI is good for 270 PS and 540 Nm, up from 240 PS and 500 Nm.

There is also a body kit available for the latest Passat, which is not entirely new, as it was first seen last year, packing an updated grille, front apron, new side skirts, different mirror covers, rear spoiler and a rear skirt add-on. Finishing off the package are the new ABT springs, anti-roll bars and a choice of 18- to 21-inch wheels, wrapped in high-performance tires.
